Wangaratta is a bustling regional centre servicing a retail catchment area of 65,000 people. The township itself is home to 30,000 people and is surrounded by Victoria's most geographically diverse and scenic region, offering an enviable lifestyle to residents and an attractive destination to visit.
Wangaratta is Australia's home of jazz with the 'Wangaratta Festival of Jazz' an annual event. The 2024 festival being held on the Melbourne Cup Weekend. Since inception in 1990, the festival has grown to include 90 events and over 350 national and international artists performing each year. The Wangaratta Festival of Jazz also hosts the National Jazz Awards, Youth Jazz Workshops, Masterclasses and events throughout Wangaratta and surrounding wine regions.
Close to it all
Many of region's best attractions are located within a relatively short drive of the park. For an easy day trip, you could head to the picturesque and historic tourist towns of Bright, Beechworth, Myrtleford, Porepunkah, Rutherglen, Glenrowan, El Dorado, Yarrawonga, Mulwala or the King Valley region (all less than an hour's drive from the park). Or, for a short and leisurely morning outing, you could head to one of the local gourmet bakeries or cafes, followed by a scenic afternoon drive to sample a wine or two at one of the region's many wonderful wineries. Other local attractions include the Silo Trail, and the Winton Wetlands and Speedway.
